woke up at seven this morning, quick (and good!) Breakfast in hotel dining room in a deserted (apart from two days in Australia we have not met anyone else .. there is no doubt that we come only us and them in hotels! Doubt unsolved for more ...). When passing through the siq is still early enough to not be anyone, even the Treasury is deserted. Almost the desert ...
The only people I meet are walkers, hiking boots and sticks, which give the idea of starting locations for very serious.
While we're fresh we decide to go immediately on the height of sacrifice, a demanding of the two programs we have for the day. The climb goes well, we do so in the company of a group of Peerson who seem to know their stuff. It 's a pretty arduous climb but fattibilissima. Too bad that the return is completely wrong.
While we are there that we enjoy the scenery and the beautiful view from the heights ....
and we wonder what will be the "way" different from going down from where mentioned in our guide, we see that the group has gone up with us on a path from convinced. We tell ourselves that they are almost certainly taking the road that we want to take us, I mean ... how many there are? Here, ever be so optimistic.
beginning everything is fine, because we see very beautiful monuments.
We meet interesting people ...
But after a while 'the monuments seem to have disappeared and we are in the middle of nowhere! After trying to keep up with trekkers to forty-five minutes (And I assure you it was not easy, we are not too bad but those were obviously walkers and experts were at a different speed!) My husband insists that they are going in the opposite direction from the center of Petra. I protest, but now I have learned not to do so, simply because my sense of direction is zero and he knows where he is also blindfolds him and if you do turn on itself three times. Map in hand we find that he is right (and wrong?), The group of mountain goats that we were following is obviously directed at the monument of the snake (I only say that it is off the map of our guide Petra ...), so We walked for 45 minutes in the opposite to the center of Petra, where we had to back down. But that good news ...
legs shoulder, there is little to do, Luciano invents a way that does not even know where the fishing, now we've ended up in the middle who still lives there in Petra that after a while 'reassures us (ok , reassures me because he was already certain) that the path is right.
.. After a while '! We come out right in front of the restaurant Basin that is filling up with tour groups. Between one thing and another we had lunch. We sit down to nibble something we, as half an hour rest and then the climb towards the monastery.
This is, After the Treasury, probably the most impressive monument of the whole Petra.
But to get there is expensive: a climb of nearly forty minutes long ascent of the steps where you have to continuously pass on the donkeys that carry people who do not want to have it on foot. And 'this is the real part of the ascension exhausting, rather than the climb itself ... In any case sognatevi
not even against it, because the prize is worth every effort.
After essercelo enjoyed steady, falling back to better explore the monuments of the center the day before we had no depth.
The rest of the day ends as before: Luciano and I sat in front of the Treasury waiting for everyone else leave the site. This time we salute him forever, but who knows that is not a goodbye.
After a quick shower, there is the choice of restaurant for dinner, this time among those proposed by our guide we opt for the "Red Cave", a short walk from the Movenpick, where, surprise! We find again our two French gentlemen. I remember the speech about the guides that lead to the same places? Dinner good, income statement, the company always nice. Too bad that our now is a salute certain: we will continue tomorrow to the desert of Wadi Rum, their ascent to Amman.
